This role is ideal for an experienced design professional who enjoys remaining actively engaged in project work while also serving as a trusted resource within the office. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of design and technical expertise, sound professional judgment, and a collaborative approach, while modeling the quality, professionalism, and design excellence we expect at SFCS.

Qualifications:

  • NCIDQ Certification required.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Design from an accredited university.
  • 15+ years of progressive professional interior design experience, with demonstrated leadership of complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Significant experience in senior living strongly preferred; experience in healthcare, commercial, institutional, higher education, or multi-family environments also valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead client relationships, design presentations, project teams, and complex decision-making.
  • Experience mentoring and developing interior design professionals.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, budgets, schedules, construction documentation, FF&E, and construction administration.
  • Renovation and repositioning experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with SketchUp and/or AutoCAD. Knowledge of Newforma, Enscape, and/or Lumion is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Expertise & Client Engagement
  • Develop thoughtful and creative design concepts tailored to client needs, project goals, and program requirements.
  • Present confidently to clients and contribute expertise and professional judgment throughout the decision-making process.
  • Serve as a trusted design resource within the office, sharing knowledge and providing guidance based on extensive project and industry experience.
  • Model a high standard of design quality, professionalism, collaboration, and client service for other team members.

Project Delivery
  • Manage the interior design process throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with program requirements, budget, schedule, and design intent.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to manage project priorities, schedules, and internal budgets for the interior design scope.
  • Remain hands-on in project production, including finish and material selections, documentation, specifications, FF&E, and other project deliverables.
  • Independently manage complex assignments and identify solutions to design, technical, and coordination challenges.
  • Balance multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

Technical Expertise
  • Produce and review schematic designs, design development documents, construction drawings, specifications, and FF&E documentation.
  • Provide a high level of technical knowledge and practical expertise throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Participate actively in construction administration, procurement, installation, and project closeout.
  • Coordinate effectively across architecture, engineering, vendors, consultants, and other disciplines.
  • Serve as a resource to other team members when complex design or technical questions arise.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
  • Work collaboratively with Interior Design, Architecture, Engineering, and Project Management teams.
  • Share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices with less-experienced team members.
  • Provide informal guidance and support to colleagues without having formal supervisory responsibilities.
  • Help reinforce SFCS standards and expectations through the quality and consistency of your own work.
  • Contribute to a collaborative office environment and serve as an example of strong professional practice for others.

Marketing & Business Development
  • Participate in client interviews, presentations, proposals, and other business development activities.
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships throughout the life of a project.
  • Bring knowledge of the senior living market and client needs to project and pursuit discussions.
  • Represent SFCS professionally with clients, consultants, vendors, and industry partners.
